The government consists of parties with the highest and the lowest weights. Hence, the legislative influence of an elected party is not monotonic in its vote share.
Parties' electoral platforms are symmetrically distributed about the median voter's ideal point in the onedimensional issue space. The party adopting this position to contest the election receives the smallest number of votes, and the remaining parties have an equal likelihood of being first-ranked in the legislature.
